2-ply construction has an inner layer of silicone that covers the steel spring wire for smoother, less turbulent airflow than single ply alternatives. The 2-ply design is also more robust and resistant to damage, as well being able to handle more pressure and vacuum than the cheap single ply stuff. Internal steel spring wire resists crushing and keeps the hose shape uniform even with complex bends.
Installation: Cut the steel wire with tin snips, and the silicone with a razor blade. 13 feet is enough to do both left and right front brake ducts on just about any sports car out there.
Not all hose is the same! Some folks try to bargain hunt for hose, but in our experience this is the ONLY ducting hose that belongs on a race car. There simply is no substitute. The internal wall structure of the 2-ply hose is critical for maintaining smooth airflow; lesser hoses of the same size will flow far less air when actually put to the test due to all the turbulence the uneven inner shape creates. Single ply hoses and cheaper materials are easily cut up by road debris, deteriorate from heat, and just don’t last. Do it once, do it right!
